A few years back, I created a series of video clips for an optometry practice to put on their website. The videos were quick testimonials from patients, clips introducing the doctors to the patients, the doctors explaining why regular exams are important and such. Because the practice did not have a huge budget, the video was hosted on You Tube.
A few months after the site launched, the practice owner was looking at her web traffic stats and was wondering why she was getting a lot of traffic from AOL Video and an optometry management website. On further exploration, it was discovered that "spiders" and "bots" from those sites had crawled the web for certain content, copied my clients videos and put them on their respective sites. Without any work on our part, the optometry practice's value based marketing messages were spread over the internet. Over a short period of time, the resulting traffic to my customer's web site appeared to be responsible for her site rising quickly in the Google search rankings.
That's why I love web video and that's why I started Orange Internet Video Inc.
A great part of the 27 years I have been in the tv and video business has been working on local retail television commercials. The last decade or so has seen rising production and airtime costs of television advertising. Local television advertisers are disappearing. I don't believe that there are any less business owners that would like a tv commercial than there were 20years ago, I think that less can afford it now.
The beautiful thing about what we are doing at Orange is that we are taking the concept of television advertising and updating it for the digital age. The production of the web commercials we create are a fixed price depending on the length of the video you choose. We place the completed commercial online for you so video sharing can get started right away. Using video sharing websites, social networking and your website, you can share your video to a large targeted market for little to no cost.
The use of web video is growing. A recent study by Yahoo states that 2.5 billion videos are watched online per month and that nearly one third of all people who watch a video online share it with their friends. Details on the study can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/yz3e9p6.
Video is a powerful medium. Video has 30 frames or unique pictures per second. If a picture tells a thousand words, then video must tell 30,000 per second! Nothing on the web evokes emotion, shows and tells, and creates intimacy as well as a cleverly crafted web video.
The power of the web to share information always continues to astound me along with the speed it all happens. At Orange, we'll be watching the trends and techniques to make sure we support you in getting your web video to as many of your ideal customers as possible.
See you in the pictures!
